The Lab Services team is a small, close-knit group of practitioners within OpenText Learning Services. We provide practical hands-on lab environments – including expert guidance and support thereof – to promote success of all LS constituents. Those constituents include students, instructors, administrators, content developers, delivery managers, and departmental leaders. #LI-remote

Our team is looking for an accomplished and talented new member for the position of Principal Lab Infrastructure Architect. This role is technically deep yet functionally broad. You will get the opportunity to showcase your skills in virtual training lab R&D while ensuring the success of our content creators and consumers through personal collaboration and support. We are looking for the rare individual who not only possesses a wealth of technical knowledge, but also can explain it in just the right way to those who need our aid. Primary Duties

Architecture

  • Consult with curriculum developers to craft the ideal hands-on lab environments for our complex enterprise-class software products.
  • Troubleshoot functional, networking, and performance issues within those lab environments.
  • Define and enforce standards for the look, feel, and functionality of the lab environments.
  • Suggest/lead initiatives to improve our tools and processes to maximize performance and efficiency.

Operations

  • Monitor compliance of standard policies related to the lab platform(s).
  • Monitor costs and suggest/lead cost-saving initiatives.
  • Maintain a complete and accurate accounting of our lab assets and how they are leveraged within our training curricula.

Support

  • Assist constituents with timely technical support.
  • Produce and maintain job aids for various constituents (e.g., developers, instructors, administrators).
  • Ensure environments stay patched with latest OS and software updates.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • 10 + years experience of basic cloud computing (virtual machines, network, storage, security) – AWS, GCP or Microsoft Azure (preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with desktop virtualization platforms – preferably Hyper-V.
  • Expertise administering Windows and/or Linux servers and personal workstations.
  • Solid knowledge of computer networking fundamentals (DHCP, DNS, NAT, firewalls, security certificates)
  • Knowledge and experience with container technology (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Prior experience in customer support roles is a plus.
  • Prior experience in for-profit and/or software training is a plus.

For New York,Colorado and California residents, this job is expected to pay a minimum of $140,000/annum in addition to a comprehensive and competitive group benefit and healthcare plan. Individual compensation will be determined based on skills and experience comparable to the job requirements.
