Job description: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides technical direction and frameworks to meet business needs
  • Provides expert consultation for major network initiatives or incidents
  • Produces and/or endorses network standards
  • Provides advice and recommendations specific to customer requirements
  • Evaluates emerging technologies against business and IT strategic needs
  • Serves as key representative on major network initiatives
  • Updates standards and guidelines
  • Reviews the feasibility of new and existing IT projects
  • Writes technical and business documentation
  • Leads high level scoping and costing activities
  • Guides and influences team members and business colleagues
  • Creates presentations/solutions and articulates such to senior management and clients
  • Works with Subject Matter Experts and technical support teams in the pursuit of technically excellent solutions
  • Produces technically sound solutions architecture that is aligned to business needs and direction
  • Reviews and evaluates disaster recovery strategies
  • Reviews designs for standards compliance, architecture compliance and negotiates implementation timeframes
  • Works with the network operations and project delivery teams to promote network standards and compliance
  • Collaborates with business users, technical staff and management to define business and technical requirements
  • Researches, evaluates and approves vendor services and solution
  • Develops phased transition plans for the evolution of the SIE Enterprise Networks architecture, including tactical networks
  • Coordinates and reviews enterprise networks Implementation and Migration plans and schedules with Government and affected IT service providers in advance, in accordance with Change Management policies
  • Supports, implements, and complies with design principles, practices, and methods for converting strategic IT objectives into actionable and supportable portfolios of well-integrated IT services and service assets
  • Provides recommendations on network-related design parameters that support the IT Management Office (ITMO) in creating and maintaining documentation that codifies these principles, practices, and methods

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 10 – 15 Years
  • 10 years of experience (within the last 15 years) as a Network Engineer in a production environment.
  • 5 years of experience (within the last 7 years) in DoD Network Design and IT modernization.
  • 5 years of experience (within the last 7 years) delivering a SDN project of similar scope and complexity.
  • Cisco Certified Intrnetwork Expert (CCIE), Juniper Networks Certified Expert Lab Exams (JNCIE), or equivalent OEM certification
  • Active DOD Secret Clearance

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • IAT Level III Certification
  • 3 years of experience in designing cloud based solutions.
  • 2 years of experience working with commercial internet services providers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the ability to perform the below essential functions:

  • Sitting for long periods
  • Standing for long periods
  • Ambulate throughout an office
  • Ambulate between several buildings
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required
  • Repeatedly lift and carry weight up to 50 pounds
  • Travel by land or air transportation 25-50 %
