The Telecommunications Enterprise Network Support Manager position(s) will be responsible to manage a specialized unit in support of the County’s Enterprise Voice Network. These specialized positions focus on and deliver technological services in the Telecommunication Services Division with experience in providing management, oversight, and direction; conferring with staff on operation matters; serving as a technical advisor; resolving personnel issues; assisting in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for long range network plans and daily operations; reviewing system integrity, security, and efficiency; evaluating and making recommendations to management for improvements or enhancements; and assisting in annual budget status and review: manages multiple projects simultaneously that support VoIP and Infrastructure services that will be used countywide; leads staff in proposing network technology solutions that take into consideration scalability for use by multiple departments; assists in the creation of new and the maintenance of existing countywide and department specific technology policies, standard practices and procedures.Qualified candidates will also have the responsibility to assist in research and cost-benefit analysis of new technologies and telephony services; making recommendations for acquisition of new hardware and software; recommending training courses for staff; assisting in coordination with County department or other customers; and interfacing with customers regarding service issues in order to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. These positions may require incumbents make presentations as needed; stay abreast on technological changes; and assist in the development of the annual Division budget and periodic review of budget status.This position class is characterized by responsibility to supervise staff assigned to one of several specialty areas of the Telecommunication Services Division*Official job title: Enterprise Network Support Manager. EXPERIENCE:Four (4) years of full-time equivalent work experience in an enterprise network management environment architecting, engineering, and integrating solutions.Experience must include architecting and/or implementing enterprise solutions in a large organization setting with at least two (2) of the following technologies:

  • Telephony and Data Infrastructures
  • Cisco UCS Servers
  • UCM and Unity Connection
  • Avaya PBX and Call Pilot
  • VoIP Installation and Repair
  • Datacenter Network Infrastructure Platforms
  • Network Enterprise Equipment: Routers, Data Switches, Voice Gateways, Cisco VoIP Platforms
  • Telephony Dialing Plans/North America Dialing Plans

LEADERSHIP:Three (3) years providing full-scope supervision or acting as a project lead to a team performing network management in an enterprise environment related to VoIP, Telephony, or Voice Infrastructures.EDUCATION:Sixty (60) semester (90 quarter) units of completed college-level courses in information systems, computer science, software engineering, or a related field.Education Substitution: One (1) additional year of qualifying work experience may substitute for the education requirement.Desired QualificationsExperience in Telephony and Data Infrastructures, engineering, VoIP installation and repair, Cisco UCS servers, VMWare, UCM and Unity Connection, Networking, strong leadership, problem solving, and analytic skills are highly desirable.
